Independence Blue Cross and Tower Health Reach Agreement

Independence Blue Cross and Tower Health are pleased to announce we have agreed to a new three-year contract, effective immediately, that ensures Independence members continue to receive in-network health care coverage at Jennersville, Pottstown, Phoenixville, Brandywine, and Chestnut Hill hospitals, facilities and the physicians they employ. Reading Hospital System, now Tower Health, will also remain in the Independence network. The new contract applies to all lines of business – commercial, Medicare and FEP.

Together, Independence and Tower Health are committed to the best interest of our members, patients, physicians, and the community. Providing our patients and members continued access to quality, affordable care in this region is paramount for both organizations.

We are confident that this agreement will serve as the foundation for a strong relationship between our two organizations.

Communications to our members and customers

Members who received prior communications will be sent notification today to advise them that we have reached an agreement with the Tower Health system.

For members who may have changed their PCP, we will be doing outreach to help them switch back if they choose to do so. As of Monday, October 9, our Provider Finder will reflect the in-network status of the Tower Health entities.

You may also want to send this message to your customers who received notification of the contract expiration earlier this week.
