Independence’s Specialized Solutions partners provide resources for support during the pandemic

We understand this is a sensitive time with a great deal of uncertainty, and that many of our members — your employees — may be experiencing anxiety and stress. Supporting them through this period and beyond remains our top priority at Independence, as reflected in our 24/7 nurse hotline, expanded telehealth services, behavioral health support on ibx.com, and the COVID‑19 resource page we created for members in March.

Some of Independence’s Specialized Solutions vendor partners have also created additional resources for member mental and physical health during the COVID‑19 pandemic. These partners provide programs that can be integrated with some of our buy‑up solutions to address specific health concerns within your employee population. These programs include:

  • Propeller — remote medication monitoring to reduce the hassle of managing asthma or COPD, supported by sensors, mobile and web apps, and notifications
  • Ovia — app‑based fertility, pregnancy, and parenting support, with triage to Independence’s Baby BluePrints® Maternity Program for high‑risk members
  • Naturally Slim® —  a scalable, self‑paced online mindful eating and skill‑building program to reverse metabolic syndrome
  • Catapult Health — innovative on‑site preventive care check‑ups with live video consultations

Propeller

Propeller understands it’s a concerning time for people with asthma or COPD. The Propeller program, which includes inhaler sensors and a mobile app with personalized reports, can help members manage their condition with confidence. Propeller is clinically proven to reduce rescue inhaler usage by up to 78 percent and increase the number of days without symptoms by up to 50 percent in adults and children. In a time where going outside may mean risking exposure to COVID‑19, Propeller can help people take charge of their asthma or COPD at home.

Propeller has been directing members to reliable educational resources in the Propeller app as well as COVID‑19 Resources page, which includes the latest information about coronavirus for people with asthma or COPD, all vetted by their team of medical and public health experts.

Ovia

Ovia recognizes that those who are pregnant or trying to conceive are already in life changing situation, and their future and health are now in question. Additionally, maternal and infant health outcomes are at risk during COVID‑19 as members may be forced to delay and forego care, fertility treatments, childbirth classes, lactation classes, postpartum checkup visits, and more. That’s why Ovia developed resources such as:

  • New content answering frequently asked questions about COVID‑19
  • A note from Ovia’s Chief Medical Officer about what pregnant women and new moms should know about the virus
  • Unlimited 1:1 messaging support with Ovia Coaches, who are being continuously trained on the latest recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

In addition to those resources, Ovia has launched a COVID‑19 support center, which will be updated regularly within each Ovia Health app, where members can find the latest information on the virus, get answers to their most pressing questions, and use an interactive symptom tool to monitor their health and assess their symptoms. Based on the results from that tool, Ovia Health provides each member with curated resources and guidance.

Naturally Slim

Naturally Slim created a resource toolkit that will assist in protecting the mental and physical health of members during the COVID‑19 pandemic. While the toolkit will continue to evolve over the coming weeks, resources currently cover topics such as:

  • Stress and anxiety management
  • Healthy sleep habits
  • Staying physically active without access to a gym
  • Creating structure while working from home
  • Timely media articles that are in alignment with Naturally Slim’s whole‑health philosophy

These resources are available in a variety of formats, including video, whitepapers, blog‑style PDFs, infographics, social media graphics, as well as PDFs that can be printed, posted to intranets, or emailed broadly.

Catapult Health

Catapult has updated their homepage to act as a resource that provides the latest COVID‑19 information. Some of these resources include:

  • A symptom tracker
  • Cases in the US
  • World Health Organization Situation Reports
  • Printable flyers
