AmeriHealth New Jersey telemedicine coverage update
Governor Murphy recently signed a law that lifts the requirement for insurance carriers to waive cost sharing for all telemedicine visits regardless of diagnosis.
One exception is that, through the end of the federal state of emergency, insurance carriers will continue to be required to waive member cost‑sharing for any telemedicine visit that result in an order for a COVID‑19 test.
Effective April 1, 2022, AmeriHealth New Jersey will no longer waive member cost‑sharing for in‑network telemedicine visits. Standard cost sharing will apply for telemedicine visits with the exception of those that result in a COVID‑19 test.
Effective July 1, 2022, telemedicine visits will be limited to in‑network providers only.
Members utilizing out-of-network telemedicine benefits will receive outreach with further guidance by April 1, 2022.
