2018 Partnership Summit - The Santuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Producers from all over the country gathered at Kiawah Island in South Carolina for this year’s Partnership Summit. As always, the conference was filled with delightful mingling, noteworthy meetings and delicious feasts in a spectacular oceanfront setting.

Sunday’s welcome dinner kicked off with cocktails outside and a farmer’s market style dinner inside. Everyone caught up with old friends while making some new ones and enjoyed the live music from Charleston’s own powerhouse variety band, Soul Fish.

Attendees gathered for Monday’s meeting featuring an informative presentation from Dr. Norman Kato, Chief Executive Officer of Avende, Inc. Because of Mother Nature we had to move our afternoon activities indoor. We didn’t let the weather spoil our fun. The resort put together an entertaining game room for people to relax and enjoy each other’s company in some friendly and competitive games of oversized Jenga and Connect Four, ping pong, card games, darts and other games. Some of our adventurous golfers decided to make some lasting memories by playing on the Turtle Point golf course in the pouring rain. Other guests took their art skills to another level during the Plein Aire Painting class. Attendees didn’t let the rain ruin the pig roast at Mingo Point Monday evening. South Carolina’s famous Peanut Dude was onsite handing out freshly boiled peanuts, and even hand rolled cigars were available to go along with the low country atmosphere. Charleston’s Blue Plantation bluegrass band played the night away.

Tuesday’s meeting featured an interactive discussion on the future of stop loss rates and large claim trends in the stop loss industry led by Dan Strusz and Jay Ritchie. Afterwards, Robby Kerr outlined the value of the organ transplant policy, why one should consider it, and touched on the pending transition to HCC Life Insurance paper. After the informative meeting attendees were able to practice their shooting capabilities during the Kiawah River skeet shooting excursion. Others lounged by the pool or soaked up the sun on the beach. The summit came to an end with a nice relaxing poolside dinner overlooking the beach.

The perfect balance of business and relaxation makes the Tokio Marine HCC Partnership Summit worthwhile each year. The conference is a wonderful opportunity to spend time building relationships and to experience quality time with the Tokio Marine HCC management and staff. The 2019 Partnership Summit is in the works, and we look forward to hosting another successful summit.
