2019 Partnership Summit

This year’s Partnership Summit in the beautiful Bahamas did not disappoint. Producers from all over the country gathered at the new Bahamian luxury resort, Rosewood Baha Mar. Storms hit us for the welcome party, so the dinner was moved indoors. Guests didn’t seem to mind since there was good food, tropical music and some friendly faces from the industry.

After the meeting on Monday, everyone walked away feeling less stressed or at least learned how to manage it better. Our guest speaker, renowned health expert, Dr. Marc Milstein spoke about “Managing Stress and Anxiety in Our Fast Paced, Modern World.” Afterwards, golfers chose to release some stress out on the beautiful Royal Blue Golf Course. TMHCC’s own Shannon Bates looked like a pro with his spectacular hole-in-one. Other guests were pool side or relaxing on the big floating lounges in the sparkling turquoise waters of Nassau’s Cable Beach. The dinner party that evening was held in the Rosewood Garden.

Tuesday morning’s meeting featured Dr. Stacy Borans, Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Advanced Medical Strategies (AMS). Dr. Borans focused on current affairs and what to be aware of regarding the influx of specific high dollar diagnoses and therapies. She also discussed the next generation of emerging therapies and drugs and their estimated costs.

Wrapping up Tuesday’s meeting, Dan Strusz, President and CEO of Tokio Marine HCC - Stop Loss Group presented on current stop loss and health care market conditions, including the dramatic escalation in the severity and frequency of catastrophic claims. Also, attendees got a first glimpse of On Call’s Air Ambulance services.

The Swimming with the Pigs adventure was cancelled due to strong winds, so guests instead found their way to the beach, pool, spa, casino and other fun activities around the resort. The farewell dinner was held at Costa which featured unique cabanas designed to invite conversation while enjoying Latin American flavors for a twist on traditional seafood dishes.

The perfect balance of business and relaxation makes the Partnership Summit worthwhile each year. The conference is a wonderful opportunity to spend time building relationships and to experience quality time with the Tokio Marine HCC management and staff.
