Consumer specialty products portfolio unveiled – Producer commissions doubled for adult dental and vision

Independence plans are the only area health plans that offer dental and vision plans specifically designed for adults. That means the entire family can have dental and vision coverage. (Pediatric dental and vision benefits, up to age 19, are already included in most ACA medical plans.)*

New dental plans for 2016
Independence will offer two new dental plans – Adult Dental Preferred and Adult Dental Premier with Preventive Incentive – effective January 1, 2016. These new plans will replace Adult Plus Dental and Adult Prime Dental plans at renewal. Members shopping for an adult dental plan during open enrollment will be able to choose from the Adult Dental Preferred and the Adult Dental Premier plans.

Adult Dental Preferred has all the protection and benefits of a full-service dental plan at an affordable price. This plan provides coverage for many basic and major services such as fillings, extractions, root canals, and more.

Adult Dental Premier with Preventive Incentive has lower out-of-pocket costs and unique plan features that provide the most comprehensive coverage. This plan has a Preventive Incentive, which means that the amount paid by the plan for services such as exams, cleanings, X-rays, and more are not counted toward the member's annual maximum.

With almost 2,000 dental providers in the Concordia Advantage network, it's easy for members to get the dental care they need.

Same great Vision Care plans for consumers
In 2016, we will continue to offer our adult vision plans, Vision Care 100 and Vision Care 180 at the 2015 rates. Benefits include exams, access to a large selection of designer frames, discounts on laser correction services, a one-year warranty, and more.

Adult Vision Care 100 provides adults age 19 and over with a $100 retail allowance on frames, or contact lenses in lieu of frames, at participating providers, plus discounts on overage.

Adult Vision Care 180 provides adults age 19 and over with a $130 retail allowance on frames or contact lenses in lieu of frames at participating providers, plus discounts on overage. Members can receive up to a $180 allowance at Visionworks^® locations nationwide.†

With approximately 2,000 vision specialists in the Davis Vision network and 29 Visionworks locations, it's easy for members to get the vision care they need.

Discounted rates when plans are purchased together
When members purchase certain adult dental and vision plans at the same time, they will receive a discounted vision rate (up to 15%).

While the adult dental and vision plans can be purchased throughout the year, the best time to purchase these plans is during medical Open Enrollment, which is scheduled for November 1, 2015 – January 31, 2016. By purchasing dental and vision coverage at the same time as medical coverage, all of the member's plans will renew at the same time, making them easier to track and manage.

Commissions increased from 2.5% to 5%
For plans with January 1, 2016, effective dates, producing agents will receive 5% commission on individual adult dental and vision products.

Renewals

Members with a January 1, 2016, dental and/or vision renewal will receive their renewal notice in late October

Medical members who also have an adult dental and/or vision plan will receive their renewal notice along with their medical renewal package.

Members with a February 1, 2016, or later dental and/or vision renewal will receive a renewal notice about 60 days prior to their renewal date.
